Unit 2: Acid Base Measurement Data Processing

This unit will include further study of Acid and Base chemistry with the underlying equilibrium, solution, and reactivity concepts as well.  We will spend about two weeks on this unit and complete two lab practicals.  Both lab practicals will be assessed for data collection/processing (DCP) and conclusion/evaluation (CE) with IB criteria.  These practicals will be the first formal assessment which can eventually be sent into IB for internal moderation (your overall IB grade).  You need to do your best work on these labs and ask for help before turning them in on anything you don't understand.  Once they are turned in you can not work on them further.  This lab practical work is topic 11 for IB.  Acid Base quiz on 10/20

Please watch all SL Richard Thornley YouTube videos on Acid Base chemistry.
Please watch all SL Richard Thornley YouTube videos on topic 11 as well.

Unit 1: REVIEW of first year chemistry

WELCOME TO CLEVELAND IB SL CHEMISTRY 2014-15

The work you have done on the summer review packet should be turned in by 9/12.  It will be graded as part of your course topical content.
The purpose of the summer review packet is to involve you in studying topics learned in first year Chemistry as deeply as you can to prepare for your eventual IB SL final examination in May.

The first unit we will continue a review of first year Chemistry. Topics briefly reviewed will include quantitative/stoichiometry, atomic theory, gas laws, periodicity, nomenclature, bonding, equilibrium, as well as acids and bases. The question bank review packet handed out in class will be developed into the unit test. There will be a test on this unit on 9/26.
You and your parent/guardian should read and sign the safety contract passed out in class and return by 9/8.
